What to Bring
One photo ID. That’s it.
Bring one photo ID
- Texas driver’s license
- Texas personal ID card
- Texas handgun license (LTC)
- Texas Election ID certificate
- U.S. passport (book or card)
- U.S. military ID with photo
- U.S. citizenship certificate with photo
Expired? It still counts
An ID that expired in the last 4 years works fine. Over 70? Yours works no matter when it expired.
The most-asked question
No photo ID? You can still vote
If you don’t have one of these IDs and can’t easily get one, tell the poll worker at check-in.
Show something with your name and address — your voter registration card, a utility bill, a bank statement or a paycheck — and sign a short form saying why you couldn’t get an ID.
Your vote counts the same as everyone else’s.
Good to know
- Bring your printed ballot or notes. It’s legal to use them in the booth.
- Phones stay in your pocket inside the polling place.
- In line at closing time? Stay in it — you can still vote.
- Being hassled? Tell the presiding election judge — stopping it is their job. Or call 866-OUR-VOTE.
