About this office
Texas is divided into 38 areas called districts, each with about 800,000 people. Every two years your district elects one U.S. Representative — one of 435 in Washington, and the only one who answers to you. They vote on laws that touch your health care, your taxes and your rights.

Sylvia GarciaSylvia Garcia was one of the House managers who prosecuted Donald Trump's first impeachment trial in the Senate — the first Hispanic person ever to hold that role.
About Sylvia
Garcia grew up in a family of migrant farmworkers in Palito Blanco, Texas, and went on to become a Houston Municipal Court judge, a Harris County Commissioner, and a Texas state senator before winning her Houston-based congressional seat in 2018. She's now seeking re-election in a newly redrawn TX-29, where Republican mapmakers cut the district's Hispanic voting population nearly in half in an attempt to weaken her support.
Martha FierroMartha Fierro was born in Matamoros, Mexico, and later worked as a nurse at the Texas Medical Center in Houston before entering politics.
About Martha
Fierro immigrated to the U.S., earned a psychology degree from the University of Houston, and became a nurse and mother of four in the Houston area. She's run for Texas legislature seats several times since 2018 and now serves as Houston director for the Hispanic Action Network, a group that organizes churches and pastors to get involved in civic life, before running for Congress in TX-29 in 2026.
