Texas is divided into 38 areas called districts, each with about 800,000 people. Every two years your district elects one U.S. Representative — one of 435 in Washington, and the only one who answers to you. They vote on laws that touch your health care, your taxes and your rights.

Christian MenefeeHe grew up going to Houston's public schools, became the first in his family to graduate college, and went on to become the youngest person ever elected Harris County Attorney.

Menefee served as Harris County Attorney from 2021 to 2026, where he sued polluters that dumped waste in Black and Brown neighborhoods and challenged Texas's abortion bans in court. He won a special election in January 2026 to fill the seat left vacant by the death of longtime Congressman Sylvester Turner, then had to run again just months later, beating 11-term incumbent Al Green in a May 2026 primary runoff by 39 points. He says he's running to fight for working people who feel the government has stopped having their back.
Ronald WhitfieldWhitfield was born in the small West Texas town of Lamesa, grew up in Coleman, and has lived in the Houston area since 1980.

Whitfield, who is of Mexican American and Indigenous heritage and is bilingual in English and Spanish, works as a digital creator and lives in Houston with his wife. He won the Republican nomination for TX-18 by defeating Elizabeth Vences in the March 2026 primary.
