TEXAS MIDTERM 2026
WHY THIS RACE MATTERS
There are only 31 State Senators for all of Texas, and every bill has to get past them.
WHO’S RUNNING
Roland Gutierrez
Democrat
Gutierrez represents Uvalde and has spent years pushing gun-safety bills in the Legislature after the 2022 Robb Elementary shooting, even as nearly all of them were blocked.
Marcus Cardenas
Republican
Cardenas grew up on San Antonio's Southside and took over his family's business after his brother died, later building it into Vertex Concrete, a company that's served the district for over a decade.
