Every two years they decide how much money your kids' school gets, whether your property tax bill goes up or down, and whether Texas takes federal money for health care or turns it away. Anissa ChilmeranAnissa Chilmeran is the daughter of Syrian and Iraqi immigrants, born in Plano and raised in McKinney, and works as a realtor helping local families find housing.

She holds a degree in Environmental Studies and Public Health and has been active in environmental and social-justice organizing before running for HD 61.
Keresa RichardsonKeresa Richardson unseated fellow Republican incumbent Frederick Frazier in the 2024 primary runoff and has represented HD 61 since January 2025.

In April 2025 she was one of a small group of House Republicans who voted no on the statewide private-school voucher bill, breaking from her own party's leadership.
