It's very difficult for a case to reach the Supreme Court. So for most Texans who appeal — a custody ruling, a lawsuit, a conviction — the Court of Appeals is the last court that will ever hear it. Texas has 14 of these courts, each covering a share of the 254 counties, and Hays County's cases go to the 3rd Court of Appeals in Austin. The Chief Justice runs that court — and this year the seat is on your ballot.

About Andrea
Plumlee currently presides over the 330th District Court, a family court in Dallas County, where she has served for about 15 years. She won the Democratic primary for 5th Court of Appeals, Place 8, defeating Nicholas Palmer, and if elected would continue on the family court through the end of 2026 before moving to the appellate bench in January 2027.
Ashley WysockiAshley Wysocki has already served as a judge once before, presiding over the 162nd District Court in Dallas County from 2023 to 2024.
About Ashley
Wysocki earned a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin, then an MBA and a J.D. from Texas Tech University. She served as judge of the 162nd District Court from February 2023 to December 2024 and won the Republican primary for the 5th Court of Appeals, Place 8, in 2026.
