Veronica Escobar

Candidate for U.S. House • District 16Democrat

Who Veronica is

Before Congress, Veronica Escobar started out as a teacher and rose to become El Paso's county judge — the county's top elected executive.

About Veronica

Escobar has represented El Paso in the U.S. House since 2019, after serving as an El Paso County commissioner and then county judge. She was the first woman to hold this House seat and, alongside Houston's Sylvia Garcia, one of the first two Latina women elected to Congress from Texas. She is running for re-election, citing work on border/immigration policy, healthcare access, and federal funding for El Paso.
