Tarrant CountyCriminal CourtNo. 10
Republican
Most people who end up in a Tarrant County courtroom for a lower-level crime see a county criminal court judge. Trent Loftin, the Republican judge of Court No. 10, worked on both sides of criminal cases before the bench.
Loftin was a Tarrant County assistant district attorney, then a defense lawyer at Jerry Loftin & Associates and in his own practice. He has been a judge since 2022. He says he wants to finish misdemeanor cases within six months, with plea deals or trials used only when needed.
Judges aren't allowed to take sides on these values — it's against judicial ethics rules. The best clue to how a judge thinks is the party they run with.
