If you're ever called for jury duty or file for divorce in Tarrant County, your paperwork goes through the District Clerk. Tom Wilder has held that job since 1995 and is seeking an eighth term. His office of 149 people handles more than 61,000 new court cases a year.

In 2025, three men in long-running family court fights filed petitions to remove Wilder, saying his office blocked or lost their filings. A Denton County judge dismissed the petitions, finding they didn't meet the legal bar for removal. Wilder called the men "disgruntled court litigants." Before taking office, he owned businesses for about 30 years. His office started online filing in 2014.
