Ask people in Fort Worth's Northside who their District Attorney is, and Tiffany Burks says most have no idea. But the DA decides who gets charged with a crime, and who goes to prison. Burks, an attorney, spent 22 years as a prosecutor in that office, rising to help run its criminal division. Now she wants to run the whole thing.
She lost to Sorrells by about 6 points in 2022, so this time she's knocking on doors in neighborhoods that feel forgotten by government. Her plan starts with people who keep cycling through jail for addiction and homelessness: get them treatment instead. And after more than 80 deaths in the county jail since 2017, she's promised to take a hard look at every one.
Burks’s take on Texas values
On Sept 1 2026 her campaign issued a press release saying Tarrant County must not use that day's polling-site vote to restrict access to the ballot. [campaign press release, tiffanyburksforda.com]
