If you are charged with a felony, the most serious kind of crime, a criminal district court is where your case is heard. Sherri Wagner, a Republican, is running for Court No. 1. She has been an associate judge in a nearby Tarrant County court since 2018.
Wagner spent six years as an assistant district attorney in Hill County, prosecuting both civil and criminal cases, and also worked as a prosecutor in Tarrant County and as an attorney in private practice. She is a Texas A&M law school graduate, and this is her first run for office.
Judges aren't allowed to take sides on these values — it's against judicial ethics rules. The best clue to how a judge thinks is the party they run with.
