Justice of the Peace courts are where everyday disputes land: small claims, evictions, debt cases, traffic and other minor crimes, even driver's license hearings. Ricky Rodriguez is the Republican running for the Precinct 1 judge seat, and he's unopposed.
Rodriguez grew up in North Richland Hills, where he now sits on the city council. He started at Bell Helicopter as a janitor, later worked in its purchasing department, and became a Realtor and insurance agent. He was also executive director of the Tarrant County Republican Party.
Judges aren't allowed to take sides on these values — it's against judicial ethics rules. The best clue to how a judge thinks is the party they run with.
