Before running for Congress, Mark Nair helped design ringtones and early smartphone prototypes for companies like Nokia and worked with 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey on one of the internet's first livestreamed concerts.
Nair is a 30-year Amarillo resident, husband and father who served on the Amarillo City Council from 2015 to 2017 and later taught economics and software development at Amarillo College, where he won a Faculty Excellence Award. He built a career as a tech entrepreneur, co-founding several startups and running a company that created the first marketplace for reselling digital media, before deciding to challenge longtime incumbent Ronny Jackson for Texas's 13th Congressional District.
