Tarrant's five-member county board decides how many places you can vote. On Sept. 1, 2026, Manny Ramirez, the Precinct 4 commissioner, joined the board's two other Republicans in a 3-2 vote that cut this November's polling places from 316, the number in the 2022 midterm, to 224. Supporters said the cuts save money and still meet the legal minimum.
A year earlier, in June 2025, Ramirez cast one of the three votes to redraw the commissioners' districts. More than 200 people spoke against the new map. Before he joined the board, Ramirez was a Fort Worth police officer for more than a decade and led the city's police union. He grew up in the precinct, has an MBA from TCU, and was named by Gov. Abbott to chair the state's juvenile prison board.
Ramirez’s take on Texas values
On Sep 1, 2026 he was one of three Republican commissioners who voted 3–2 for a polling-site list with 92 fewer sites than the 2022 midterms (224 Election Day sites, down from 316). He said he had asked for all 2022 sites; the elections office said some were unavailable. [Texas Tribune, Sep 1 2026]
