Party Aligned

County criminal courts decide misdemeanors, the less serious crimes. Lesa Pamplin, the Democrat in the Court No. 9 race, has been on three sides of the system: an Arlington police officer, a Tarrant County prosecutor, and now a defense lawyer.

Pamplin was a prosecutor at the Tarrant County District Attorney's office from 1998 to 2004, then opened her own law office, where she represents people charged with crimes. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and ran for Court No. 5 in 2022.

Judges aren't allowed to take sides on these values — it's against judicial ethics rules. The best clue to how a judge thinks is the party they run with.
