Republican
Family district courts deal with divorce, custody, child support and cases about children who may have been abused or neglected. Kenneth Newell, a Republican, is running for the 233rd. He was first elected to it in 2018 and is serving his second term.
Newell is a retired soldier with 20 years in the U.S. Army and a Bronze Star. He grew up in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, as the 15th of 16 children. He ran his own family law practice, and earned an MBA and a law degree from Texas Wesleyan. Branch.vote lists him as unopposed.
