Jordan Wheatley is a public elementary school teacher and basketball coach in South Dallas, the son of a coal miner and a school bus driver from West Virginia.
He is running to flip the seat held by longtime incumbent Jeff Leach, focusing his campaign on public school funding and cutting families' cost of living.
Wheatley’s take on Texas values
Wheatley, who says he works two jobs as a teacher, is campaigning on lowering costs for groceries, housing, utilities and insurance, and opposes large corporate tax breaks in favor of investing in small businesses and working families. [campaign website; Ballotpedia]
