About John
Carter served as a Williamson County judge before winning his U.S. House seat in 2002 and has held it ever since, making him one of the longest-serving members of the Texas delegation. He won re-nomination in the 2026 GOP primary with 60% of the vote in a crowded field that included the man known as the 'ShamWow Guy.' He is running for a twelfth term as a strong ally of President Trump's agenda.

He and his wife Toni have seven adult children. He beat Stuart Whitlow in the March 2026 Democratic primary to challenge longtime incumbent John Carter.
Greg StokerGreg Stoker is a former U.S. Army Ranger who did four combat deployments in Afghanistan and was later detained by Israel while trying to sail aid to Gaza.

After leaving the military, Stoker became an anti-war activist and podcast host, and was arrested for disrupting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's Senate confirmation hearing. He's running as the Green Party nominee on a platform of rejecting corporate and foreign-interest money in politics — he won't take donations from military contractors or any PACs — framing his campaign around affordability and accountability rather than the two parties' culture-war fights.
