Greg Bonnen is a practicing neurosurgeon who now runs the Texas budget — he chairs the House Appropriations Committee while still working as a doctor in Friendswood.
Bonnen has represented House District 24 since 2013 and is serving his seventh term. A UTMB-trained neurosurgeon and chairman of the board of Houston Physicians' Hospital, he leads the committee that writes the state's two-year budget and is the brother of former Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen.
