Eddie Morales Jr. is a lifelong Eagle Pass resident and attorney who has represented the sprawling 11-county, 770-mile border District 74 since 2021.
He was the only Democrat to help write the 2021 law creating Operation Lone Star, but later broke with Gov. Abbott, saying the border program had gone beyond what lawmakers approved.
Jr.’s take on Texas values
Morales opposes using state money to pay for private-school tuition (school vouchers), arguing it would drain funding from public schools that many rural families in his district depend on because they have no private-school alternative nearby. [Ballotpedia; campaign website]
