Tarrant CountyCriminal District CourtNo. 3
Republican
Criminal district courts are where Tarrant County's felony cases, the most serious crimes, are tried. Douglas Allen, a Republican, is running for Court No. 3. Governor Abbott appointed him to that bench in January 2023.
Before the bench, Allen spent about 20 years as a federal prosecutor in Fort Worth and was also a Tarrant County assistant district attorney. He served three tours in Iraq as a civilian Justice Department attorney, helping the Iraqi justice system. He and his wife have three children and live in Fort Worth.
Judges aren't allowed to take sides on these values — it's against judicial ethics rules. The best clue to how a judge thinks is the party they run with.
