Diana Loya immigrated to the U.S. as a child learning English, and now, twenty years later, teaches other English learners in the Texas Panhandle.
Loya is a district curriculum coordinator for emergent bilingual students at Dumas ISD with a master's degree in educational leadership. She's never run for office before; her husband is a Marine veteran who deployed to Iraq early in their marriage while she worked and raised their daughter. She's running because she says the Panhandle gets overlooked by Austin, especially on school funding and rural healthcare.
