Christian Menefee

Candidate for U.S. House • District 18Democrat

Who Christian is

He grew up going to Houston's public schools, became the first in his family to graduate college, and went on to become the youngest person ever elected Harris County Attorney.

About Christian

Menefee served as Harris County Attorney from 2021 to 2026, where he sued polluters that dumped waste in Black and Brown neighborhoods and challenged Texas's abortion bans in court. He won a special election in January 2026 to fill the seat left vacant by the death of longtime Congressman Sylvester Turner, then had to run again just months later, beating 11-term incumbent Al Green in a May 2026 primary runoff by 39 points. He says he's running to fight for working people who feel the government has stopped having their back.
