About Brian
Babin is an Air Force veteran who flew home to East Texas after his military service to open a dental practice, then spent years in local office — Woodville mayor, city council, school board — before winning Texas's 36th District seat in 2014. He's now serving his sixth term and chairs the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, focusing heavily on border security, oil and gas, and opposing federal gun restrictions.

After her 14-year-old daughter was killed in a school shooting, she spent six years pushing for safer gun storage laws before winning the 2026 Democratic nomination for Texas's 36th District, running on gun violence prevention, reproductive rights, and veterans' care.
