If you're arrested for a misdemeanor in Tarrant County, like a family violence assault, a county criminal court judge decides your case. Brad Clark is the Republican judge of Court No. 5, which runs a Domestic Violence Program, and he is on the ballot this November.
Clark says he wants to use "cost-effective, science-based methods" on domestic violence cases and finish them in a reasonable time. His campaign page also says he wants to "respect the time of victims, jurors, and taxpayers."
Judges aren't allowed to take sides on these values — it's against judicial ethics rules. The best clue to how a judge thinks is the party they run with.
