Who Borris is
Before he was a state senator, Borris Miles patrolled Houston schools as a police officer for the Houston Independent School District.
About Borris
Miles grew up in Houston's Sunnyside neighborhood, went to Yates High School, and studied criminal justice at Sam Houston State University. He later built one of the largest Black-owned insurance agencies in Texas and served four terms in the Texas House before winning his State Senate seat in 2016. He's running for re-election to keep representing District 13, which covers parts of Houston including Third Ward and Sunnyside.
