Before Congress, Beth Van Duyne became the first woman ever elected mayor of Irving, Texas.
Van Duyne grew up in Irving after moving there from New York as a child, graduated from Cornell University, and spent six years as Irving's mayor before President Trump appointed her HUD regional administrator for the Southwest. She's now seeking reelection to a fourth term representing Texas's 24th District, which covers parts of Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, and Collin counties.
Duyne’s take on Texas values
Van Duyne is a stated supporter of the SAVE Act, which requires proof-of-citizenship documents like a passport or birth certificate to register to vote; the bill passed the House in April 2025 with zero Republican no votes. [GovTrack; House vote #102]
